Milwaukee Bucks logo redesign

Big Buck Hunter

I have always liked the Milwaukee Bucks, for some reason. (That's something to ponder: The act of liking something for no apparent reason.)

Here is my reimagined Bucks logo.

the problem

The Bucks logo is a bit dated. It was re-done in the nineties when the cartoon heads were popular. The deer's face is spooky - too serious. And they have also screwed with the historical color scheme. They had a purple forest green thing going for a while - not a good look. Both are bad interview colors by the way.

the solution

The deer reminded me too much of a mounted head, so I turned it into a basketball with antlers. I wanted the antlers to be less cartoonish, leaned heavily on France's new national futbol kit patch, and kept the Bucks historical color and typeface.

history

In the discovery phase of the project I found that I really liked the historical colors and typography treatment. What if we kept the colors, and typeface, but updated the logo to be more playful? That's what we did. I imagined a futbol patch.

I doubt the Milwaukee franchise will adopt this logo anytime soon, but they should. I think it turned out to be a livable design. It would be perfect as a patch on the shorts and warm ups. I think it has a old timey yet modern feel.
