Peach Baskets Interaction Design

user experience

Mike Sinkula guided me as I researched what elements frustrated users: hard to find contact information, a complicated shopping cart, and lack of quality product visuals.

the problem

Since Peach Baskets is a mid-size site, we needed to think about what was needed for their users. We needed to be selective in what “bells and whistles” were needed.

the solution

The design is clean with a focus on products. Because the site thrives on loyal re-peat customers these elements made sense: A Wish List, Product Reviews, and Email Update. For further documentation here is the information architecture, interaction design and wireframes.

research

The visual design needed to be simple and highlight products. The site carries multiple brands so the design couldn’t be too heavy on the Peach Baskets brand.

Deciding what was needed and what made sense for the size of the business was key. The user experience dictated the design, functionality, features, and content of the site.

wireframes

Wireframes are black, white and grey schematic diagrams organizing a website’s content. Every detail was hashed out all the way through the complete shopping cart buying process.

After clarifying the site’s specifications, I did an initial sketch on graph paper, then wireframe the drawings in Adobe Illustrator on a grid. Every aspect of the site was laid out from the home page all the way through category, product, and shopping cart pages.
