the problem
I grew up with the Sonics city logo. Seattle's skyline sits on the top 2/3rds of a basketball. Over the years I have developed a need for the ball to be finished. The franchise changed their logo two times after the city logo was abandoned.
the solution
I revisited the look and feel of the old city logo. I was born in San Francisco and have always admired the their pro basketball team's iconic "The City" logo.
initial sketches
The City is a simple circle with a the silhouette of the Golden Gate Bridge sitting in the bottom 1/4th of the circle.
I mashed the idea of the city logo with Jason Terry's term of endearmant towards Seattle calling it The Town.

two towns
Two great towns. Two great fan bases. Two logos. I couldn't find a decent version of the old Golden State City logo, but this will do for our purposes.
San Francisco is like a bigger version of Seattle, but with the same vibe. Then there is the well known thought that Latrell Sprewell was the missing piece to the Sonics of the 90's.
